I started Once Five Photography as a way to have an outlet for my creativity, and I found that I have gotten so much more. I would like to thank all of my wonderful clients for allowing me to document their lives and giving me the opportunity to rock my camera the way it needs to be rocked! XOXOXO!
As some of you may know, my second job is bartending. It is my second love and I get to meet some really interesting and nice people… some of whom become friends.
I met James when I first started working at my bar in Kent about 2 years ago. We hit it off right away because James is super nice, respectful, and he has a daughter who is the same age as my little Adina! I have a lot of fun with James and all the other characters that grace my place of employment with their presence.
James mentioned to me that his sister was coming in to town for Christmas and they really wanted to get some photos done of their family while they were here. Since they live down in San Jose, CA they don’t get up here too much and try to make it a point to get photos done while they can. Needless to say James’s entire family is just as kind and welcoming as he is, and his daughter is a sweetheart and very bright!
Here come the photos…

Thank you Bacher Family for welcoming me into your home and letting me capture this moment in your lives!
In the spirit of the holiday season it is only right that I did a photoshoot in the snow! Am I right or am I right? Thought so!
So I saw this happy family with the most adorable boy walking down the street…. no no… just kidding! They weren’t actually walking.
Alright enough with the corny jokes… I got to do a family shoot with my good friends Nick and Dez who you may remember from HERE . And if you saw that post then I’m sure you noticed their adorable little boy, Miles… who’s middle name is really Danger… only spelled differently lol! How cute is that?
Now if you don’t know Miles then you wouldn’t know that he has a small poop obsession. There were a few little presents left by furry friends and we had to stop and examine it, talk to it a little, then say by about 50 times in english and spanish! It was the most hilarious thing ever! Slightly disgusting, but hilarious just the same!
By the magic of photography you can’t even tell that it was raining/snowing not just snowing. So we were soaked, but I have to say that this was one of the most fun photo sessions I have ever done! I am so happy to have Nick and Dez as my friends. When you have friends who genuinely care about you, and share the same values and outlook on life it just makes things a little easier.
At the bottom there’s also a video my partner in crime (my boyfriend Chris) made after this shoot! Make sure you watch it! It’s super adorable!
On with the photos…
Miles loves his sled… and his mommy!
The falling snow made this photo look like a painting.
I love dynamic photos like this… notice how each of them is looking in a different direction! It is just adorable!
The snow was very unforgiving. We kept getting stuck in it… here’s Nick trying to pull Dez out!
This one just makes me melt. It is so sweet to see a mother comforting her child… Dez is great at that!
Nick was just pulling Miles along on the frozen pavement because they kept sinking in the deep snow!
After playing around and eating the snow we went puddle jumping… which is one of the most awesome joys of childhood! Who’s with me on that one?
I’m sure in this one Miles was looking for poop… good thing there wasn’t any around!
The final one… the loving family in all their glory!
I know there were a TON of photos in this post, but I just loved all of them! Thanks Nick and Dez for letting me be your lifetime photographer!!!
Having a career as a photographer is such an amazing thing. I get to meet wonderful people, take beautiful pictures, and every once in a while re-connect with people I haven’t seen or heard from in a really long time. That was the case with Kim!
Kim and I used to work together at Marriott years ago. I worked at the front desk and she worked in the At Your Service dept. which was similar to an operator. I would call up to Kim or she would call down to me everyday and we would chat about work, and after that we would talk about how demanding the guests were haha! We really only knew each other through our voices! Right before Kim left Marriott I transferred up to A.Y.S. and we finally met in person… then she was gone. That was in 2005… in 2009 we found each other on Facebook and Kimmy decided she wanted some pictures done of her 18 month old son, Joe. I was thrilled because not only did I get to see Kim again, I got to meet her son who I didn’t even know existed! And he is seriously the happiest kid on this planet! Kudos to Kimmy for being such a great mom!
On with the pictures…
Kimmy it was great seeing you again and catching up! Take care!
Baby Eva, baby Eva, baby Eva… what a sweet little angel! Probably one of my calmest newborns to date!
My super amazing client, Kelly, (you may remember her from this session: Baby Hayden) recommended me to one of her co-workers, Sandy. Sandy and her husband, Jason, had just had little Eva and wanted to get newborn portraits of her to remember what their little family looked like when it just started. There was a little mishap before the session… I’m not going to go into here and embarrass myself, but it was definitely my fault let’s just put it that way haha! Thank goodness for Sandy and Jason with their patience and understanding, because I’m sure any other couple would have flipped! (Thanks you two!) So we got started with the session, I snapped some beautiful ones of all three of them, and then we got started with little miss Eva’s personal photo shoot.
Through the beginning of the shoot everything went as smooth as pie, but as soon as little E’s clothes came off she wasn’t exactly thrilled. Who can blame her? I can honestly say I would have a serious problem with some stranger stripping me down and taking pictures of me! Lol! Once she got to know me a little, got a little bit of food in her tummy, and I got her comfortable with lots of help from Dad she allowed me to finish her photos. Even with all that going on I still think this was the smoothest newborn photo session I’ve had!
On with the pictures….
This is where she had, had it with being naked… poor baby girl…
So we bundled her up and put her on the shelf HAHA! She actually like it up there…
And here are the proud parents with their princess… happy as clams…
Sandy and Jason thank you so so much for giving me the opportunity to capture this moment in your lives!!!
Talk about a ball of energy! Ada loves to run and she runs fast!!!
I had a session with Katie and Ada about a week ago to take some photos of Katie for her resume, being a harpist on the side, and some fun family shots of her and her busy bee daughter. Apparently it’s becoming a popular thing to submit a photo with your resume for certain highly competitive positions. Pretty cool idea right? I thought so too! So, after some furniture arranging to get a cool background in her apartment and get the right lighting angles, we did a couple shots that were resume appropriate…
After that we broke out the harp. I had never actually seen a harp in person before, so I had no idea how HUGE that thing was! It looked really complicated and according to Katie took her years to perfect. Here is what we got..
After the proper professional style photos we headed off to the park to do the fun stuff! I have a pumpkin orange and black outfit, a bee costume, and a bunch of cute sweaters coming up right now!
Here’s the bee costume…
Don’t get stung hehehe…
Remember what I said about the running? Here’s a great example…
Thanks Katie and Ada! What a fun, wild, and windy day!
